Book lovers are invited to attend readings by award-winning regional and national authors at Nicholson Library this fall. Our program features four authors including a Linfield faculty member, a poet and novelist, an essayist, and a journalist. Nicholson Library is happy to partner with the Linfield English Department and the President's office to bring quality programming to Yamhill County, expanding upon Linfield's mission of Connecting Learning, Life, and Community.
All readings are free and open to the public.

Lex Runciman Tuesday, Sept. 15, 7:30 p.m. Austin Reading Room
Lex Runciman, professor of English and an award-winning Northwest author, will read from Starting from Anywhere. Runciman has published three other poetry collections, Out of Town, The Admirations, winner of the Oregon Book Award, and Luck. Ed Alwood Thursday, Oct. 8, 7:30 p.m. Austin Reading Room
Journalism historian Ed Alwood will discuss his award-winning book, Dark Days in the Newsroom: McCarthyism Aimed at the Press, which chronicles how journalists became targets of anti-Communist crusaders during the 1950s and draws parallels with modern conflicts over the rights of journalists to protect their sources. Sponsored by Friends of Nicholson Library, the Mass Communication Department and President's office.

Marilyn Chin Thursday, Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m. Austin Reading Room
Award-winning poet Marilyn Chin will read from her debut book of prose, Revenge of the Mooncake Vixin. She is also the author of Rhapsody in Plain Yellow, Dwarf Bamboo and The Phoenix Gone, the Terrace Empty. Sponsored by the English Department, President's office and Friends of Nicholson Library.

John Daniel Monday, Nov. 2, 7:30 p.m. Austin Reading Room
John Daniel will read from his newest book, The Far Corner: Northwestern Views on Land, Life, and Literature. He is the author of nine books of poetry, essays and memoir, and won the 2006 Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award for Rogue River Journal.
