How do I give?

It’s easy! Each year you will receive information in the mail which will include a reply envelope and a pledge card. You can return that card with your gift, or wait for a student to call you later in the year. (Note: Those who make their gift early will not receive their annual student phone call, so if you have additional information to update, be sure to contact the alumni office.)

You can also send a check to:

Linfield College, Office of Annual Giving
900 SE Baker St.
McMinnville, OR 97128

Or, make a donation through our secure on-line giving form.

Can I make my gift in installments?

Yes! Gifts can be made in up to twelve installments over the course of the fiscal year. For example, a gift of just $85/month will put you in the President's Club each year. Pledge reminders can be mailed to you at prearranged intervals, or sign up for our Electronic Fund Transfer program today.

Where will my gift go?

You get to decide! Many people choose to give to the Linfield Fund for Excellence. Gifts to this fund are directed to wherever the need is greatest. Common recipients are scholarship programs, collaborative research projects and international programs. Some alumni also choose to direct their gift to a specific area of the college they want to support.

What impact would my small gift have?

In 2004-2005, 2129 people (or 77% of our unrestricted givers) made gifts to Linfield College of $150 or less. Those gifts added up to a total of over $92,929, more than enough to make a significant impact. It’s also worth noting that if our entire potential alumni donor base of 13,000 made gifts of just $25, each they would total $325,000!

How does a gift benefit me?

National rankings, such as those published in US News & World Report, use the percentage of alumni who give (not the amount) as a factor when determining top colleges. The publicity surrounding these rankings effects the reputation of your degree no matter where you call home. Also, if you itemize your taxes, your gift to Linfield is fully tax-deductible.

Why does Linfield ask for a gift when I just graduated?

We’re proud to call you a graduate of Linfield College – we hope you’re proud too! A gift to Linfield, no matter what size, says you appreciate the experiences and knowledge you received while attending Linfield and believe other students from a variety of backgrounds should have access to the same experiences.

Why do you call when I still have student loans?

Gifts are important to the future of Linfield College. We want to make sure (even early on) that you recognize the significant impact even a modest gift can make. Also, Linfield College is a non-profit organization. Many people in the first ten years after college begin to make gifts to non-profits that have impacted their lives, even though they are paying off student loans.

For more information about supporting Linfield please contact Kurstin Finch Gnehm '97, director of annual giving, by email or at 503-883-2492.
